Will you be the person taking our photographs?
Yes! I do not hire other photographers to cover any weddings for me. If there is an emergency I may have a back-up photographer fill in for me, but to date, that has never happened.
Are you primarily a wedding photographer?
90% of my business is wedding photography. I do photograph special events, but many times these are charity events.
What is your wedding photography style?
Photojournalistic. However, I don’t like that term since it tends to categorize my style. I shoot in the moment to capture the emotion of the moment. There are times I may jump in and have someone move their hand a certain way, or tilt their head, but those times are rare. I let you be you.
Should we have engagement photo’s taken?
That depends. Many couples choose to have engagement photographs because they are planning well ahead. This gives them time to have their engagement photo’s printed on “save the date” card, or their invitations. Engagement photos also go well in a guest book. However, if you’re wedding date is right around the corner then engagement photos may not be for you.
What kind of gear do you have and do you have back-up equipment.
I shoot with a professional Nikon D3 and D700 (way better than canon!!) J. I show up carrying both cameras and several additional lens and flashes
Are the images that come on CD High Resolution?
All images are High Resolution with no watermarks.
Are images from you edited and/or re-touched?
Yes! Every image is reviewed and edited to ensure proper coloring and enhancing. You will get black and white versions on some, sepia on others, and other “creative” styles. This is really where the heavy lifting is for me as a photographer.
We realize that you place your most attractive photographs online. Can we see a complete wedding to get an idea of your style?
Yes! Email me and I will be glad to provide access to some of our past weddings.
Do you check out the wedding location beforehand?
Yes ! Depending on the location I may attend rehearsal. This gives me an opportunity to meet the bridal party as well as check out the venue. I will discuss my locations during the ceremony to ensure you have an understanding of where I will be stationed. If for any reason I cannot attend the rehearsal I always arrive early to check out the location and take photographs prior to the arrival of guests.
Will drive time count against your allotted time?
Depending on your location. We generally charge travel time for any venue that is over an hour away. Let’s talk and see what we can work out.
Do we include you in catering figures?
No. While I normally stop photographing while guests are eating, I do not expect to be included in the food services. I generally bring some snacks to get me through the day. Now if you want to offer me some champagne that’s a different story!
I know someone who is willing to photograph our wedding for $700 and I get all the images.
Most people who are charging at this price level are either lacking the experience and/or the expertise to photograph your wedding. Pricing is one of the ways more experienced wedding photographers distinguish themselves from others. Usually this price range will get you a causal or inexperienced shooter. Just remember this event is a one time shot!
